about

The Bio/Medical Technology Club of Houston (BMTC Houston) is an organization recognized in the Houston area for its educational and informative meetings and networking opportunities. BMTC Houston is comprised of professionals representing biotechnology and life sciences companies and academic and medical institutions as well as those who provide services to or support the industry (such as law, accounting, recruiting firms, etc). The BMTC Houston organizes monthly breakfast meetings, which focus on issues related to human health care: clinical research, medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, medical devices, gene therapy, stem cell research, genomics and proteomics. These meetings provide networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with professionals in a variety of related industries. The Club also sponsors related professional meetings and assists in advertising events that serve our mission to foster the development and growth of biotechnology and life science in Houston.

Houston has already established itself as a technology leader due to its world-class academic and public-sector research base. The city is home to the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center, that boasts many first-rate life science researchers in its 41 institutions. Houston companies benefit from their close proximity to colleges and universities, allowing technology to be easily transferred when a university licenses its innovations for commercial development. BMTC Houston provides a link between the biotechnology and life science industries, academia, and other abundant complementary industries in the Houston area. BMTC Houston continues to attract participation from an ever-increasing talent pool of professionals from management, and technology, as well as, life science graduates from associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degreed programs focusing on biotechnology. The BMTC Houston was formed to assist these groups in coming together and intends to continue to support the effort to develop and grow these industries in Houston.
