Speaker Biography:
Dr. Shishir Shah is the President and CEO of Spin Diagnostics
(www.spindiagnostics.com), a biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of proprietary instrumentation and consumable products for high-throughput cellular imaging and analysis. The company addresses the need for instrumentation and assays for rapid cellular screening, including living and dead cells, body fluids and cellular constituents.
Dr. Shah's experience and expertise includes starting and building companies, developing new technologies, corporate, strategic and technical analysis, business leadership, operations, and raising capital. Most recently, he served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and Member of the Board of Directors of Spectral Genomics, Inc., a fully integrated genomics company focused on using a proprietary microarray platform for diagnostic assays. Under his leadership, the Company developed long and short-term strategic directions, realized operational and administrative infrastructure including a manufacturing unit, a research and development laboratory, a bioinformatics group, a sales and marketing team, as well as a strong business development focus.
He successfully raised Series A financing for the Company and served to launch the first 5 commercial products and over $1.5M in revenues within the second year of operation. Prior to joining Spectral Genomics, Inc., he was the Projects Manager for BioDiscovery, Inc. directing and coordinating the development of bioinformatics software. His experience included working with academic collaborators, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical companies to provide generalized as well as customized solutions to gene discovery research and development. He was also responsible for new technology development and introduction through educational workshops.
