Bio/Medical Technology Club of Houston Meeting Announcement Meeting Topic: Mr. Pauly has also worked with Intermedics, a leading medical device manufacturer in Angleton producing implantable pace makers, ICDs and programming devices. In this career position, he was writing software and performing hardware design for these complex systems. Mr. Pauly received three patent approvals with Intermedics which are now part of Guidant’s IP portfolio. Mr. Pauly’s original home base was the Northeast area where he worked for ILC, a NASA subcontractor. There he developed space suit design enhancements for astronaut EVA activities in the building of the Space Station and in Hubble repair missions. These designs are still being used by NASA today. He also was involved in defense design contracts under security clearance and developed active camouflage for the military. Mr. Pauly started his medical engineering career working for Terumo Medical, designing high speed vision systems for product process inspection of single use medical devices. Mr. Pauly has a bachelor’s degree from Widener University, Chester, PA with a major in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mechanical Engineering. He has experience in hardware, software, and mechanical engineering disciplines as well as bio-medical technology. At present Mr. Pauly is a member of the Houston Technology Center Life Sciences screening committee as well as the Medical Device Mentor Network. He is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). He has five published patents to date with one additional patent pending approval. Mr. Pauly is an active member of his church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
