Bio/Medical Technology Club of Houston Meeting Announcement

Meeting Topic:
“Future Is Bright In Houston For Medical Device Manufacturing”

Speaker:
Jeff Applegate
President

Jeff Applegate serves as President of Blackwell Plastics where he has led the sales and operations of the company since 2003.  Blackwell Plastics manufactures custom injection molded and extruded plastics to support industrial clients in the south central United States.  Under his leadership the company has grown revenues by nearly 300% through new customer acquisition in energy, aerospace, medical and infrastructure markets and updated operational systems to ISO 9001-2000 standards.  In 2005 Jeff Applegate was awarded the Texas Mainspring Manufacturing Award for his commitment to manufacturing excellence and innovation in Texas at the Applied Manufacturing conference in Arlington Texas.

Prior to Blackwell Plastics Jeff led a successful turnaround of the South Texas region of ProStaff where he was responsible for employing 2,500 people through 39 branch offices in Houston and Austin.  Jeff began his career with LSI Industries where he held various sales and management responsibilities.  During his tenure with LSI Industries he was responsible for the leadership of the Technology Graphics division that manufactured product identification and labeling for global OEM’s such as Compaq Computer, Nokia and Motorola.  Under Jeff’s direction, the company experienced significant growth through investment in manufacturing capacity, addition of new customers, and became recognized as a world leader in the development of in-mold plastic decorating technology.

Jeff is a graduate from Baylor University with dual majors in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management.  He is married to Julie Applegate and they have 3 children Drew (9), Ben (7) and Summer (5).  Jeff serves on the advisory boards of the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, The University of Houston College of Engineering and Pine Cove Christian camps.  Jeff is an ordained deacon serving at Second Baptist church, a member of the Houston Rotary Club and is an avid runner and tri athlete.
